April A-Z Challenge: When 'E' meant Exams...
Until a few years ago, ‘e’ would have stood for nothing other
than exams in my life!
After years of last minute preparations, exam pressure, nervousness
and stress, I had decided after I finished my engineering examinations, that I would
have no more of that. While I have no regrets
about not having studied further, I do regret the provocation for such a
decision.
Back then, subconsciously, me and a lot of my peers had
always correlated every single exam we appeared for to success, in not just
your grades, but your job opportunities, your income, your lifestyles… That was
the seriousness and implication associated with each exam we appeared for. Highly
overrated, I would say! We never considered exams as a simple assessment of
your understanding of a subject, which it actually is! But how many of us can
take it that way!
Add to this, the current generation has the additional load
of extra-curricular involvement as a measure of leadership and motivation and
God knows what else!
My take on this: if you genuinely have interest and aptitude towards
a particular course, take it up and let exams not bog you down. Success/
happiness in life has no correlation to your performance in even the most
decisive (so called) exam in your life!

Have to agree with you. But unless this originates from the educational authorities, this negation of emphasis on exams, peer pressure will still compel you to perform as per expectatio n. That is the sad reality.
