April A- Z Challenge: C is for Culinary Comfort
For the love of food...
I enjoy eating! AND I enjoy cooking! Even so, I must confess,
cooking also intimidates me at times! I have, over the last 10 odd years of culinary
encounters, developed a particular comfort zone. South Indian, specifically
Andhra preparations excite me, attempting the other Indian categories (North,
etc) creates a kind of flutter in the nervous system that has chances of
settling down only after the said preparation travels down the gullet of the subject and inspires some applause!
Failing which, the next few days are spent sulking and taking oath not to
attempt impossible missions ever!
International cuisines are of course kept at bay, lest they
cause irreparable damage to the already shaky nerves. Nevertheless, I enjoy cooking
traditional, time consuming, authentic Andhra delights! The pachadis/ chatnis
hold a special place and are shoved down the throats of hapless family members
regardless of their preference. So, I’m off to the kitchen now to make Beerakaya
Tokkala Pachadi (Ridge Gourd skin chatni)….yum!
Love food too and die for andhra pachadis especially gongura pachadi
ReplyDeleteI love South Indian food for the comfort factor. One is the comfort of cooking it and the other the comfort with which we can eat it. I enjoy trying my hand at pasta/noodles and the like, but the spouse does a better job, so I willingly hand over the reins ;) I love Andhra pickles.. sigh..
