Greening the thumb

...not like I was born with one….it’s only thanks to incessant downpours in Mumbai, that I stand a chance to witness some greenery in my flowerbed! Infact it is more than greenery that I witness this time, as I courageously ventured the untrodden path and bravely took up the challenge of growing flowering plants this time round! All this, while the husband, who by the way, has a corner in the heart for flora and fauna, was feeling sincerely sympathetic towards the said plants and saying silent prayers, lest they perish!

I have never had much luck with tending to plants. Several unsuccessful trials in the past, finally led to giving up all hope towards having some shrubbery around the house. This time however, some study went into the most stubborn kind, that would survive, a lazy, slothful caretaker. They were fetched home, after much haggling and several promises by the maali of taking them back, if they don’t continue to flower (oh yeah! you get an exchange offer on anything these days, you just have to be garish enough to ask for it).

So, as it turns out, it really comes as such a pleasant surprise to finally have flowers bloom (threats and demands notwithstanding) in my gardenette (the few inches of flower beds that I do have around the house). Here’s a decko…
