Rantings in zombie land

Been a while since I posted on the blog, with many floating ideas and as many golden moments going uncaptured.

So, zombie land is where we live these days. Junior still refuses to let the mother get her uninterrupted 6 hours of sleep. After an hour long story-time with the Brat, which leaves her, halfway close to slumber land, the father takes over and finishes the business of putting her to sleep. After much reluctance in the initial months, Junior has finally come to terms with the one-on-one reading time that me and the brat like to share (which he will of course be part of, in the years to come), and has decided that it is best to take a nap and leave us alone, while we are at it.

Just as the reading gets over, Junior is up, awake and ready to be put to sleep all over again, giving further exercise to my vocal chords, as I walk down the long stretch of the house, singing lullabies (now those I am equipped with, thanks to the music classes I did with the brat). After all the slogging with the bed time routine, no sooner than the two adults in the household, get a few moments to discuss all the madness in the mad mad house, Junior decides to intervene and there I am, again, walking and singing (hopefully only humming), waiting to get this done with….only to be at it again in less than an hour.

Darkness somehow never encourages me to sleep. But Junior thinks it mandatory to feel mama’s presence, while asleep, so there I am lying down, thanks to Galaxy SII and the superfast 3G connection, browsing away and catching up on my reading. Finally, when slumber strikes, either the brat wants to get up and pee, or Junior wants to be walked again, leaving me kicking myself for not having napped, while he did.

And thanks to my grey-winged friends, early morning seems like their favourite time to roost on my balcony, leaving my precious morning sleep at their mercy! They wake me up before I want to be up. The precious morning hours of slumber are oh so essential to keep sanity intact! Waking up early just doesn’t suit me, as I like to stay up at night and do some reading while there is some peace and quiet.

Being up once, of course, means time for cleaning two sets of teeth (thankfully, the third are still underway), cleaning three pairs of bum, countless trips to the main door, letting vital workforce resume their functions, followed by a quick peek at the newspapers and the all-important three course breakfast routine the family is used to, leaving me ranting for the lack of sleep and dreaming of the time when I can finally get it!

PS: Missed blogging the last few days! Will keep posting regularly from now on!
