Let's call it a day!
It is days like these that keep me going! Had a packed
day! Notwithstanding the regular chores around the house, worked on the
proposal that is to be sent out next Wednesday, ran a few errands for the
husband, and also, now this is the highlight!, made Gaajar ka Halwa today!
This dish is one of my all-time favourites and invariably evokes fond memories from childhood. Amma always made this on my birthdays. It’s amazing how food conveys mother’s love, when words can't. Food was used in my household, to convey love. All family members always got their favourite dishes on their birthdays.
After 10 years of running a household and tending to the family, I can say with confidence that I don’t seem to have inherited much from Mum here. I primarily cook because I obsess about food and ingredients and the way it looks once done and how long I took to make it, and all that blah blah. I do not cook to demonstrate love. Less noble than that, I cook, because I love food! So, the Gaajar ka Halwa today was to celebrate the bright red Gaajar in the market after all!
